When painting, I am sharing my experience of the subject with the viewer. I do that by layering color and texture to convey the mood and infinite possibilities present in a specific moment. The process of layering color, always leaving part of the previous layer exposed adds depth to a painting and allows the color to vibrate the way it does in nature. It enables me to paint the unique energy found in any particular moment.
Changing light and evolving shapes revealing transparent layers of color allows for the transfer of my interior self to the exterior world. Seeking the excitement in the play of light or quality of color in the random occurrence of beautiful compositions either in nature or by accidental hand has a calming effect, enabling me to find my center and voice with the stroke of pastel.
